Scientific Skills and Contexts
Skills are tested across Earth and Beyond, Energy and Change, Life and Living, and Natural and Processed Materials. Testing focuses on interpreting data, investigating, measuring, predicting, and reasoning.
Year 3 to Year 7 Assessments
Year 3 explores light, shadow, and life cycles. Year 4 examines living vs non-living things. Years 5 and 6 explore food webs and electrical circuits. Year 7 requires students to conduct fossil dating and distinguish between physical and chemical changes.
Year 8 to Year 12 Assessments
High school papers nurture skills for Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Earth Science. Years 8 and 9 assess the particle model and energy transformation. Years 10 and 11 focus on weather hypotheses and sampling. Year 12 covers the formation of the universe and conservation laws.
